Miles Away, Still Home
There’s a person I call my yellow,
Not because the color is pretty,
But because it feels like warmth
On days the world turns cold against me.
A yellow is rare.
The kind that stays beside you
Even when the crowd misunderstands you,
The kind that argues with you every single day
Yet somehow becomes the safest place to return to.
You fight with me for everything;
Every opinion, every joke, every tiny thing,
And maybe that’s why conversations with you
Never feel EMPTY.
You are beautiful in ways
People notice too late.
Pretty smile, smart mind,
Funny enough to heal bad days,
Caring enough to make silence feel comforting…
And yes, painfully, unbelievably SHORT too.
I don’t know if I hold
The same place in your life
That you hold in mine,
But I know this;
Every small victory of mine
Runs to you first among friends.
An app idea? You.
A late-night breakdown? You.
A tiny achievement needing celebration? Still you.
You supported my dreams
Like they were yours too,
Even marketing them proudly
Among your huge world of people
Just so mine could grow a little louder.
And maybe you’ll never fully realize
How rare your heart actually is.
You give love so naturally
But hesitate to receive it back.
You stand for people quietly,
Protect them in rooms they aren’t even in,
And make invisible people feel seen.
That’s what makes you different.
That’s what makes you my yellow.
I hate everyone who gets to see you daily,
The lucky people who hear your laugh in person,
Who get to exist around you
Without counting miles between meetings.
Because no matter how much they know you,
No matter how long they’ve loved you,
You’ll always remain my bestestestest friend.
And even if life keeps us far apart,
Even if cities and time grow between us,
I’ll still run to you
For every little inconvenience in life,
Knowing somewhere out there
Exists a person who understands me
Without judgment.
So never doubt yourself, okkkiiieeee?
The world will always have problems to offer,
But one thing should remain certain;
I am only one call away.
And today, somewhere between stars, laughter, memories,
And another candle added to your beautiful existence…
I just hope your yellow sky shines a little brighter than usual. 🌻🐣💛🧸
